Coomera Australian Football Club (nicknamed The Magpies) is a Gold Coast based club competing in the SEQAFL Div 3 Australian rules football competition. ==Club history== The Coomera Australian Football Club was formed in November 2009. The logo of the Magpie was chosen as it was used by the local Junior club that was established in 1997. In 2010 the senior club competed in the 2010 State Association Division 3 Central competition, fielding one team.〔http://www.sportingpulse.com/club_info.cgi?c=1-109-93590-205649-11943992&sID=224509〕 The Magpies' first game was on 16 May 2010, against Yeronga. The Magpies went on to win the clash 14.5.89 to 4.6.30. The club had a successful first season, finishing the home and away season second on the ladder, with eight wins and four losses. Coomera played in their first ever final against the undefeated Jimboomba Redbacks at Glen Logan Park. After putting up a great fight they eventually went down by three goals. After having overwhelming support from the local community and player numbers too high to cater for, the Coomera Magpies applied to enter and were accepted into the AFLQ State Association DIV 2 for the 2011 season. This allowed the club to field a reserves team and start an Under 18s side which provided a pathway into senior football for young footballers in the Northern Gold Coast. The 2011 Season saw the club's senior team finish fourth; the reserves fifth; and the Under 18s seventh.
